Day 3 Jollys Bike Shop, Chequered Flag and Chapter 1

Day 3 Starting mileage 42,095

Day 3 Finish mileage 42,221

Day 3 mileage 126 miles

Total trip mileage 499 miles

So, I woke up this morning to see a bird talking to a bird, I wasn't sure if it was some sort of weird bad date or what - it all started off quite polite, a bit of conversation, taking photos and then eventually I'm sure i heard one tell the other to F off. Maybe the seagull refused to go 50/50 on thebill 😳🫣🙃😂

My first stop today was at Jolly's Bike Shop, voted the UK's No.1 Biker Cafe and deservedly so. A fabulous venue owned and run by Chris Sims, it's more of a family/biker community hub centred around Chris’ life sized model business and his personal motorcycle collection which is stunning. I particularly wanted to visit again this year as Chris has recently unveiled a new addition to his collection “Extreme Vision” a bike built in 2001, was featured in BSH (Back Street Heroes) and has won many awards. A gorgeous bike!

Thanks to a couple of regulars (Wayne/Diesel, Nick, etc) in was guided on the route to take for my next destination, the Chequered Flag on the A38 near Liskard. From Jolly's i went up to Mortonhampstead and then hung a left to take a route across Dartmoor to Liskard. A brilliant route although some is limited to 40mph due to sheep lying in the road, and yes they do, they will also walk across the road in front of on-coming traffic. They will also look at you as if you're the stupid one 🫣😂

The Chequered Flag Cafe, with a motorcycle salesroom and maintenance shop next door is situated on the A38 between Plymouth and Liskard.

Following the Chequered Flag, I set off up the A38/A30/A39 to Chapter 1 at Damerells Motorcycles, when I was met by Karl the owner who generously refuelled me and looked after me. I met some great bikers here John, Brian who were on their fireblades and several others, sorry I'm terrible with names.

I was intending to go to the bike night at Project 83, but this required preregistration and when i went to book, it wasn't available- so I gave it a miss and rode down the A30 to Penzance.

From a fundraising perspective, online i have now raised just under £1,300 with several cash donations to be added and my own donation which I'll add when I get back home. So well above my original target, many thanks to my donors and supporters; however you can help it's truly appreciated 🙏💚🏍

Day 4 - lands end, then Westward-Ho via the A30/A39. Approx 120 miles, and 3 hours in the saddle.
