Day 5 (Part 2) Do I really need to come home?

Living on the road, i love it. I've done this many times in the past, loading up the bike with all the camping gear and just travelling various places, pitching my tent wherever I ended up for the night. At the moment I'm limited by the ‘luggage’ I can carry on the gixxer, it's not designed for loading up with camping gear, so I can only carry limited luggage and that means i have to book places to stay. Not quite as nomadic but I'm still spending most of the days riding and visiting biker cafes, bike nights and meeting up with friends or making new ones. It's brilliant. I love it, even if it's a bit more planned, organised and restricted.

Today, when I was riding along the A39, eventhough I had a planned meet a friend in Weston-super-Mare and a planned night stay in the Cotswolds, I saw a sign for Glastonbury and I was just so tempted to head that way…. I decided not too and met my commitments but the temptation was strong.

The freedom of life on the road is so appealing.

I know I have to come back home on Monday, I have responsibilities i need to keep; on Tuesday, i have to collect my car from the garage, do an airport run to pick up my wife/daughter and I have to go back to work Thursday. But…. And it's a big but….. I love being on the road.

I also have to take my friends from the O55 Group out for a ride on Sunday. Which i love doing, the group members are brilliant, the rides are brilliant. I love this too, but…..

Being on the road, is simple, get on the bike and ride. Ride wherever you want to go. The journey and people you meet is more important than the destination. The beauty of this simplicity cannot be understated.

That's one of the reasons I do this every year, just to de-stress and remind myself of the simple life.

If you have never done this, you should….. when I get home I'll start planning next years trip😁🙏💚🏍
